If abnormal quantities of SMRPs have been detected in the blood following the MESOMARK test, there is a high risk of mesothelioma occurring within the body.



However, certain types of tumors do not cause increased levels of SMRPs and it is thus recommended that the MESOMARK assay is used in conjunction with other examination methods for an accurate diagnosis.
