The GP will perform a general physical examination using a stethoscope to examine your lungs capability and detect any suspicious noises. The GP will also examine your medical history; knowing about prior lung diseases is essential in establishing the right diagnosis.

Once you have been referred to a pulmonologist, he/she will ask you to take in-depth tests like X-rays, CT scans or lung function tests to determine the condition’s cause and diagnosis.
