Even though the prognosis depends on various aspects like the patient's age, gender, and general health state, almost 37% of the patients younger than 45 and 20% of the patients aged 45-54 survive for 3 years or longer. However, the general survival rate for patients with mesothelioma is one year.

 

It is important to know that the prognosis also depends on the type of mesothelioma. Statistics show that patients with peritoneal mesothelioma have higher chances of long-term survival than the ones who suffer from another form of the disease.

 

The pericardial type usually has a worse prognosis than the pleural and peritoneal ones and although the testicular type is the less frequent, it has the best prognosis.
