Dr. James Hemp graduated from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and is based in San Diego, California. He completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at the Naval Hospital. He has also done a fellowship in Thoracic Surgery at the Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Hemp has received certifications from the American Board of Surgery in the field of Vascular Surgery and Thoracic & Cardiac Surgery. He has more than two decades of clinical experience and performs procedures such as artery graft harvesting, coronary bypass surgery with artery graft, endarterectomy, open-heart aortic valve replacement, and vein graft harvesting. At present, he is affiliated with the Scripps Green Hospital, Naval Hospital, and Scripps Mercy Hospital –San Diego. He has also contributed to several research publications.
