The term cryotherapy refers to a treatment method that is carried out by using low temperatures in order to eliminate benign or malignant lesions. This type of treatment aims to destroy the affected cells by freezing the intracellular fluid, to suppress the reproduction and growth of these cells, and to decrease inflammation and pain. Cryotherapy is commonly used by dermatologists when treating certain forms of skin cancers or lesions.
