Pleurectomy with Decortication (P/D) is a surgical procedure suitable for patients with early stages of pleural mesothelioma. First, the lining surrounding one lung is removed then the tumor grown inside the chest cavity is removed as well. The advantages of this procedure are that the life expectancy increases, the cancer symptoms are ameliorated and the patients keep their lungs.
