A radical prostatectomy is a surgical procedure that consists of the removal of the prostate gland, and of the surrounding tissue if necessary, in order to remove prostate cancer. There are three ways in which a radical prostatectomy can be performed, namely the open surgery, the laparoscopy, or the more innovative robotic-assisted laparoscopy. This surgical procedure can be followed by radiation therapy.
