Total partial laryngectomy for Mesothelioma & Lung Cancer Patients
Free Chest X-Ray EvaluationThe laryngectomy is a surgical procedure that consists of the partial or total removal of the larynx, the part of the throat where the vocal chords are situated, and which functions as a protection mechanism for the breathing system. The patients who undergo a laryngectomy will have their breathing, swallowing and speaking functions impaired and will require new methods to perform these functions. This procedure is generally performed when a patient is affected by laryngeal cancer, severe neck injury, or radiation necrosis. Furthermore, the laryngectomy procedure is carried out through an incision in the neck through which the larynx, and the adjacent lymph nodes if needed, are removed.
