Dr. Richard Helmers graduated from the Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa, completed his internship at the Indiana University Medical Center and his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Two fellowships followed, one in pulmonary diseases at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and one in critical care medicine at St. Luke's Hospital. Therefore, he is specialized in pulmonology and has 3 board certifications in internal and critical care medicine and also in pulmonary disease. Dr. Helmers currently works at Mayo Clinic Phoenix.
